This conference concludes the 2007 “Lighten the load!” campaign aimed to reduce the risks of work related musculoskeletal disorders.
The main objectives of the conference are to promote a global approach to tackle MSDs, embracing prevention of MSDs, and the retention, rehabilitation and reintegration of workers who already suffer from MSDs and to disseminate good practice solutions and models for the prevention of risks associated with musculoskeletal disorders.
The conference offers the opportunity to debate actual problems related to MSDs and modalities to reduce occupational risks and includes the annual good practice awards to recognise companies and organisations that have made innovative contributions to prevent MSDs, and the annual competition for organizing of the EW campaign at local level.
We are convinced that only together we may contribute, effectively, to the prevention of MSDs and the implementation of the best practical solutions.

The European Week 2007 is an information campaign aiming to make safer, healthier and productive workplaces in Europe, by promoting holistic approach to MSDs that integrates both primary prevention and the return to work of those who suffer an MSD.
Having the support of the European Commission and Parliament, of trade unions and employers' federations, this annual initiative became one of the most important events dedicated to safety and health at work, in Europe. The European Week provides a unique opportunity to focus attention on the importance of safety and health at work.
The main objectives of the European Week 2007 are: to increase awareness of risks associated with occupational MSDs; to promote activities meant to reduce such risks; and to promote good practice solutions.
The European Week is coordinated by the Bilbao - based European Agency for Safety and Health at Work and runs in all Member States, EFTA countries and candidate countries. The Agency is the European Union organization responsible for occupational safety and health information.
